Why pentecode?

Why did you
start
pentecode_

cu: I start pentecode because I wanted a different kind of innovative, constantly learning (i.e., experimenting) startup that is Christ-focused and able to exemplify how Christian businesses can electrify the lives and communities around them!

What sets pentecode apart from other tech startups?

cu: In addition to what I mentioned above, we started pentecode because we believe God wanted us to do a particular project, which we have not yet seen in the market. Once released, this will provide us with a very clear differentiation from all other tech firms.

Additionally, there are many startups, but is there one that’s Christ-centric, people-obsessed, learning and data-driven, fully remote, and fully committed to truth and transparency? Methinks not ;-] ! Anyway, that was a whole lot of big words; what exactly does each of them mean?

Christ-centric. No matter what we do, we strive to glorify God and follow the example of Christ.

People-obsessed. We are genuinely interested in the people surrounding us. We go the extra mile to make our customers happy, we empower and encourage our staff to do their best, and we treat our business partners as, well, true partners!

Learning and data-driven. We are constantly learning, experimenting with new ideas, and making all decisions with the support of data, facts, and biblical truth!

Fully remote. We all work from somewhere remote, be it a beach, Starbucks, or even a caravan. We can hire genius from any timezone without physical limitation (legal limitation still applies, unfortunately). We are the covid-19 generation (get it?)–is this sanitised? Just consider my last job: My boss was in the USA, my office was in China, and I myself stuck in Malaysia. (get it?)

Fully committed to truth. No lying to anyone, even if it is hard. If you don’t like my design, you can say so (but politely and maybe with a little consideration of my feelings.) Just don’t say anything unless you actually mean it. Also, we believe the Bible is the true Word of God and the source of all truth.

Fully committed to transparency.  Salaries, costs, P&L, most company reports, etc., will be available for public scrutiny. We aim to smoke even the public companies in this aspect 😉

What’s in the name pentecode?

cu: pentecode is a play on the words Pentecost and code (Pentecost + code = pentecode). Pentecost is the biblical term for the season of great revival, heavenly gifts, and bountiful harvest! It is a time of changes and great excitement. Code is what we are mainly doing. Our trade secret is in our digital signal processing algorithm and user experience, which are all established in software code. Finally, in the logo, I purposely added a ” _ ” (underscore) to give it a more techie yet retro touch.
